As with all things, I'm of two minds: either the brunt of large language models are a passing fad like crypto was a few years ago, and I'll lose 10's of dollars on it, or it's a skill like programming or IT that I won't learn until I'm near 30 and a large amount of the success in the field has already been had. I believe it's both and neither at the same time. I believe AI for most people is an extension of of the search engine. But a) there is something markedly different about AI that makes people trust it much more readily than Wikipedia or Google and b) when people discover AI tools they evangelize it like people did with the collective knowledge of Reddit or Wikipedia in the early 2000s. I don't know what this means. I will meditate on this and report back.
I currently use AI to research and brainstorm. I try my darndest to use a good ol' search engine like Brave or DuckDuckGo for research when I can. I am wholly against generative AI content. The AI app I use is T3 Chat.
